I teach because I want to give back to the teachers who inspired me to care when I was younger.

 

Prior to sixth grade, life and school had been very difficult for me. I was angry, sad, and uninspired. My sixth grade teachers, Mrs. Lacombe and Mr. Carr, cared about me deeply and, therefore, made me care about myself. They helped me to see that I was someone who needed to be cared for and loved. They helped me to ignite the passion for learning that had always been within me.

 

I make it a goal of mine, each and every school day, to greet my students by name as they enter my classroom. I want them to feel cared for and accepted for the special people they are.
